I did this mod last summer, but haven't gotten around to posting until now, though it's still working great a year later, so that bodes well.

I wanted to add a brake light that was higher and brighter than the stock one that's fairly low to the ground, so I don't get rear ended at night.

I searched superbrightleds.com because I had previously done the gauge light mod; instructions here: http://retrobajaj.informe.com/viewtopic.php?t=66&highlight=led+gauge+lights

I ended up getting a round 7" LED bus brake light that nicely fits in the middle of the spare: https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/truck-round-lamps/round-led-bus-tail-lights-7in-led-stop-turn-tail-light-with-61-leds/566/
I got a wiring harness to connect the light: https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/plugs-connectors-sockets/straight-3-pin-plug/654/1777/
In addition, I got a red LED bulb to replace my original incandescent brake bulb: https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/tail-brake-turn/1157-led-bulb-dual-intensity-18-smd-led-tower/811/
Finally, I wanted a strobe flasher to really get attention: https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/car-strobe-modules/brake-light-strobe-module/195/845/
This strobe flashes 4 times fast, 4 times slow and then is steady bright until the brake is released. Just squeeze the brake again to get it to flash.

I attached the round brake light with zip ties to the spare tire rack and wrapped the rack in old bike inner tube to dampen vibrations and prevent scratches. Zip tie ends were clipped off when I was done.

I wrapped the wire leads in electrical tape and dropped the connector behind the spare

I installed the strobe module inside the brake light housing with some heavy duty foam tape and connected all wires with insulated blade connectors. It took some thinking to figure out exactly how to splice everything together. I recommend testing everything with twisted connections before you start crimping anything. The wiring harness for the new light runs out of the top of the main rear light and is mostly sealed by the rubber gasket.
I also installed the new main LED brake bulb while everything was open.

Here's the finished product in the day

At Night, Scooter Off (Notice the reflector around the outside of the new light)

At Night, Scooter On, regular brightness

At Night, Scooter On, brake depressed

Obviously, my camera doesn't do a good job of capturing the light levels at night, but hopefully you get the idea. I feel much better knowing that I'm so much brighter from behind. Thoughts?
