Has anyone ever put the Motrax bar end mirrors on their Bajaj's or have any experience with them?

http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=&item=MRX_MBM1

They're on sale at Cycle Gear now for $40, regularly $65...

I'm thinking about it...

Seems like your view would change considerably between 1st and 4th gear, and depending on where you hold your throttle. Of course, I could be totally overlooking something obvious, so feel free to berate me as needed.

I agree. There were some old vespas designed with bar end turning signals that did not rotate. But the shifter would screw that mirror up I'm afraid.

So, you all are certainly sure you know what yur talkin' 'bout?

How come folks mount bar end mirrors on the right hand, throttle side when it rotates too? Don't both sides rotate outside of the bars?

Did you forget who you're talkin' too? Of course we have no idea what we're talkin' about!

It was actually my pondering about the right, throttle side that got me wondering about this potential problem in the first place, which might actually be the reason I was inspired to pose the question...

MC throttle doesn't mount like ours do. The bar comes all the way to the end with the hand grip sliding and rotating over the bar .

So the end of the bar doesn't rotate, just the grip.
(and they have a foot shifter instead of a grip shift as well (in case you hadn't noticed)) Smile

I'll have to pull my grips off someday. So someone went to the trouble to mount controls on scooter bars differently that standard m/c convention. Ah, well.

Ya, I'd noticed the shifter location differences. About the only 'improvement' I think could be made to our scoots would be to move the shifter into the left footboard like a m/c.

Then left leg amputees like me would be shit out of luck. I can't walk around barefoot all ready, don't take my scooter away! Laughing

See how the grips fit into the headset, instead of the moving parts fitting over a solid bar?

They say that about scientists too...a good scientist is a lazy one...that was me too, in my scientist days...

It's not that we don't get the work done well, we just find easier ways to do it.

K I S S

The last thing I did as a scientist was work on zoonotic viral infections relating to breast cancer and PBC. It was a cool project with too much mainstream resistance, made getting funding extremely difficult because it was going against a well respected NIH committee chairman. We were always scored about 5% outside the money... imagine that.

Just a thought, I'd consider finding some that clamp onto the legshield if you're looking to streamline the lines at the top of your bike. ::shrug:: I love bar-end mirrors and had them on my motorcycle, but they never felt very practical.

Otherwise, it seems safer to keep things as "heads up" as possible unless you have the luxury of not being surrounded by the homicidal car drivers we ride with in Chicago. Smile

But being a semi-girly girl, I can get with the "pretty before practical" thing every now and then.

If you love your scooter, let it go. If it comes back, you probably high-sided.

you can get the legsheild ones from scooterworks.

as far as bar ends go. we tried. and failed.
the one on the throttle side is an easy fit.
the shifter side was another story.
youd almost have to have a really long skinny mount.
somthing that would reach the whole way to the neck.

Weren't the bar end turn signal bullet types, so it didnt matter if the turned at all. In the old days I had a vespa with the bar end turn signals and I remember them turning, until a fateful day where I drop the scooter once on each side (not moving) and busted both sides.

"Some smallframe Vespas were fitted as standard with Hella or Triom bar end indicators. The indicators fit into special headset tubes that don't turn with the clutch and throttle. While conversion is possible, it's easier to do it without, and just have indicators that turn. These instructions were supplied for bikes that already had the special headset tubes, but the general principles are the same. If you need to know how they are wired into the bike's electrical system...."
