Post Center Stand Lock ? Reply with quote
does anyone know of a way to lock your center stand down while you're parked? i've got a 02 chetak.

i was just thinking that no matter how much security i have on my scooter, once the person pops the center stand up and the alarm goes off...they would just leave the thing laying on the ground. if the center stand is locked down, then i'm guessing it would really keep a lot of dummies from doing any damage.

That's a pretty nice idea. You could always hook up a hasp or locking hitch pin and use a simple padlock.

that's a really good idea, then they would have to drag the scoot off.

I think it is a GREAT IDEA, specially if you have an alarm. As at that point they would be in a hurry to get away. If the centerstand appeared to be locked, I doubt they would stop to get underneath the scoot to "check out" what was blocking the centerstand. I don't think it would need a lock on it.

along time ago(i think in Dallas) i saw a guy who drilled a small hole in the aluminum center stand and ran a cable through it to his front hub and pad locked together. it was an older scooter(sprint 150 i think?) and the column lock was busted and it didn't need a key to start... it seemed like a pain the ass...
with a bajaj center stand being so much "beefier" than the crappy aluminum vespa/stella type, welding a bracket would be easy...

...i myself think that a cable, even a thin bicycle cable, as long as it something highly visible, locked to a rack or even the spare, is enough deterrent from the "thief of opportunity"... any professional thief is going to be able to steal it no matter what you do...

I was just going through some pics from the High Rollers rally and I saw someone had made an eye bolt through one end of the handlebar and with a lock and chain linked it up the frame. Nice steering lock. Just depends how motivated you are to lock up the scoot
