Bad ass! And you got it for $40?!! What a deal.
You'll have to show it off at the HiTech Redneck Scoot-a-que.

Hellz yeah! And since we're riding down, I will be completely deaf when we get there.
If I flap my hands about and look disoriented, just hand me a beer or something, that usually cures anything...

i rode harrisburg to dc with my POC...no problems...
i would advise a full face. it really helped with the noise reduction...
the poor chap behind me though...is a different story.

I just rode this weekend away on my Mighty Chetak. I must say after a couple of months of the POC on my scoot I am a little nervous about pulling up next to cops with this KING KONG farting pipe roaring away. Knock 10 dBs off of this and it would be all the difference.

I wonder if old school header wraping (or in our case header through to exhaust) wouldn't tame the noise a little...

It might, just barely, maybe, change the tone but not the loudness. An exhaust system has to contain enough volume to allow the gases to fully expand before exit in order to lower the volume. Deflecting the sound and compression waves inside the exhaust (like with baffles) will cause some to become self-canceling.
I'd imagine the Harley rider has them wrapped to prevent burning his right leg into a stump

You get what you pay for, POC pipe=FAIL |
|
After logging several hours on my new POC pipe and loving every second of my noise making/life saving device, it finally gave up the ghost last night.
After a 50-60 mile ride around the lake the long way, then through downtown and finally wihtin 2 miles of home.... the baffle exited the cannister, leaving me with an eardrum blasting wide open pipe and a bit of a headache!
Moses saw something skidding from behind my ride and then hitting the curb as we passed in front of the Waffle House on Kansas Ave. Mmmm, smothered, scattered, topped, but I digress....
I guess you get what you pay for.
We went back in the cage later and picked up the remains of the baffle, someone had run over it on one side and squished it, I don't know if it can be fixed.
Anyone have a suggestion? I'm so sad if I have to go back to stock. So very very sad.

Hey for $40 bucks post up a pic of that bad boy baffle so we can see the carnage.
I'm hoping that some deft hammer work & some packing and the thing goes back on the road.

Anyhow, I'm gonna have to put the stock back on for right now because I simply CAN'T not ride my Bajaj! It's killing me!

The good? It's totally rebuildable and you can probably rebuild it to be better than it was originally (that's what I did).
The bad? As you can see from when I rebuilt mine, it's hard to find perforated metal that is suitable for the job. And it's also likely that you might end up with a louder pipe.
The ugly? Jumping in a dumpster to gank old mufflers and then dremeling the perforated metal out of the muffler is frakking disgusting. Just sayin'.
That said, if you can find a "guy who gets shizz done" and isn't afraid of some metal work and welding, you could have a functional POC on your bike again for less than $50.
Just be sure to measure better than I did
By the way [WOOT] - this is my thousandth post. Why did I sell my Bajaj again?!!

Thanks for the encouragement, mang... BTW taking it off tonight and putting stock back on because I can't live without her another DAY!
And I'll take pics of the remains.
And I'm not sore, a $40 pipe is still worth all this trouble.
I got the wire mesh part, though it's smooshed, just not whatever held it in in the first place...
I will post complete photos tomorrow and you can all give me your valuable opinons, I love this board!
BTW Why DID you sell ol' red, you gonna get another one?

Your feelin' it aren't ya brohemian. I knew you were talking crazy talk when you said you were selling it. Don't have room in the garage because you have too many vintage vespas? If all you got is vintage vespas you better make some room for a Chetak!
@KC- Good luck with that rebuild. I talked to a guy in Tulsa who had the rear end blow out of his in the garage when he was revving it and cut his friends leg. It was old and worn out. He rebuilt his and tapped it to use stainless bolts to hold in the packing cage and it has worked fine and is easier to repack now. Keep us posted on how you solve your fix yours.

Here's the pics of carnage as promised.
Stupid truck ran right over the end piece with the screw hole, As*Hol*!
If it can be bent back in shape great, will be easier to fix, if not, plan B.

KCB,
Just fix it. Yes the baffle may look ugly when fixed, but remember you won't see the ugly after the baffle is installed. It isn't really broken it's mangled. De-mangle the baffle screen and the end-plate with a hammer and large flat screw driver. The end plate may break at the folds when you un-fold them, but can be repaired or replaced.
Matty-X can provide more insight having seen inside one.

Rufus is right... your baffle is just really mangled. It'll be a bit of a chore to straighten it out, but it's just stoooopid work (that's work where you hit shit with a hammer a lot). It's totally doable and if the metal cracks at the seams, well, that's what a welder is for. You can probably salvage the core (the perforated part), which is the hardest part to replace/fabricate IMO.

Good news on the POC front... I didn't get the baffle "fixed", but it turns out that a certain Victory baffle will fit just fine with slight slight mod.... So my POC will be a little bit hybrid and may sound slightly different, hope to have it all guud by Havokc rally at the end of the month... let's put it this way, you will hear me coming!
Now if I could just get a v-twin down there, hehehe, that would be the shiznit....
JUST KIDDING! I LOVE MY CURRY WAGON YEAH!
So with an eta of mid next week on the parts, and a few days for my pal to drop a few beads of weld on the minor mod, I should be back in shape by mid month. . .
And it looks like the only thing wrong with it was the silly rivet holding it in place, which broke, and will be replaced by a nice stainless steel screw. I just wish it hadn't failed in the first place, dangit.
And all for the price of a lunch, what a pal.
If it works, he bought both spare parts so if anyone needs a POC rebuild maybe he could do it ... for a fee of course, I get special treatment and all....
I can't wait!
And BTW that music is Levee Town, an excellent local blues band here in KC and regional... www.leveetown.com

Okay, here's the deal. The guy tried a couple of different ideas and nothing panned out. I told him just give it back to me. If anyone has material that would suffice as a baffle, please PLEASE contact me, I'll do it myself.
I'm so frustrated at this point!
Also we will be at the Havokc rally in OKC Sept 25-27 and Sunday they are having a swap meet. Just saying, you got something that might work I'm willing to try it!
