New HRA pipe maybe on its way, show your support! |
|
I just got off the phone with Hot Rod Al and although he isnt going to be offering the first HRA pipe anymore due to costs, he said that he IS designing a new pipe. The new version would be built in house by Al and co. so he can do a smaller run and keep costs down. I asked him about a group buy and he seemed into it so... Anyone here looking for a new exhaust? My proposal is to get a bunch of us together and possibly do a pre pay with Al.

Dave,
This is a great idea, and it may not take much in the # of buyers to constitute a production run. I have mine already and I can heartily recommend its benefits. PLUS the fact that it is rebuild-able to boot.
'Course interested parties here are going to want to know cost & delivery time before committing, and Al probably won't commit to any cost estimate before ... yada yada, and ya got that chicken and egg thing going, ya know
So, why don't all with potential interest just commit to "some interest" so that you have an idea of potential volume, then you could talk some nitty-gritty with Al?

Hard for me to prepay an independent manufacturer. I've been burnt before with turntable tools.

Cowboyrob, I'm not sure about the whole pre pay thing. Al said he wasn't into the idea of tying up a bunch of his own $ for the project so that's why I thought of the pre pay/group buy idea.

What if someone build just a bare pipe, from the head to the muffler. Then we could slip on a SuperTrapp 4T universal slip on and adjust the back-pressure and noise (music) with the removable discs.

Yeah, that would make sense. I don't need one because I have a POC sitting on the shelf right now. But if someone really wants a pipe this might be the route to go.

Ok Kingslug, good idea on the supertrapp. I just installed mine! I used the header off the stock muffler and bent a pipe to go with it. The supertrapp is throaty in a Harley sort of way. Pretty cool. I've got a little deceleration popping to dial out but other than that it's pretty cool! If I can remember my photo bucket password I will post pics. Maybe I will do a YouTube clip for audio too.

Btw, I spoke to Hot Rod Al via email and he was receptive to building a header pipe. Not sure on cost but for those that can't bend their own pipe it's a good solution.
