I have a 1980 Bajaj Chetak with a very slow leak that looks like its coming from the carburator. I tightened up all the screws/bolts in the carb and still had the leak. Then I took the carb out and cleaned it. The float and needle valve look fine. Still leaking after I reinstalled the carburator. It runs fine. One thought I have is if I have my petcock positioned correctly when the scooter is not running. Ever since I bought the bike (the slow leak has been present since I bought it) I have been positioning the petcock to the left for "off", up for "reserve" and "on"to the right (orientation-as if seated on the scooter). I've been looking online and the Vespa Sprint uses this orientation, however, I also read the Vespa p150 uses the orientation left for "on", up for "off" and right for "reserve." If this is the correct orientation for my scooter then I'm basically leaving the fuel flow on 24/7 and i'm actually in the reserve position when I thought the fuel flow was off. Let me know if you have insight into the definitive orientation of a Chetak petcock.
