The threads on my nylon speedo drive pinion have become stripped. Does anybody know of a suitable replacement? I've seen some on eBay coming from India but the delivery times are 2-3 weeks.

I think you'll be lucky to even get that at this point. Tons of old vespas out there without a working speedo. Just go with the speed of traffic until the part arrives.

LOL I'm starting to debate if it was a smart idea to buy a scooter with minimal to zero parts available in the US. I love my Chetak. I was looking on craigslist and found a 1980 Bajaj Cheat in orange listed for $625. I'd be nuts to buy that one but I just love the color.

Never mind I went to go get the link and it's not listed anymore.[/url]

I don't know if a vespa one will work. Did you search the forums? If you post a WTB here with a generous sum, perhaps someone hording parts will help you out.

Update: I put the old one back on and I guess since i tried to constantly screw the speedo cable back on to the drive pinion it seems to have rethreaded itself LOL I haven't gone on a ride yet but the problem seems to be fixed. Thanks.
