the new Stella... |
|
...so, has anyone heard what Stella is doing? yep, totally copying the Bajaj... well not "totally" but the new Stella is going to be a four stroke! yep... just like our beloved Curry Tractors... now lets see how much they're going to sell for...

Rumor has it they are going to offer a 250... If true, I'm waiting for some noob to crash theirs so I can salvage the engine for my chetak.

The rumor is they will have 150, 200 and 250cc models... all manual shift, and all in the same P-style frame.
2Stroke Buzz has the scoop: http://2strokebuzz.com/2009/05/the-new-stella-unveiled#more-5224
You won't be able to just dump one of these into your old P, though. The body is welded around a frame tube.
I'll put my money down on one of these as soon as they become available. I love 2T Vespa styling. I hate 2T Vespa engines.

If this really happens, it will start an era of "Hot Rod" scooting and an entire sub-culture. Chopped and channeled P frames, chrome exhausts, lowered front ends, baby moons, bobby socks and short pleated skirts
Cruisin' at the Dairy Queen baby!

a 250cc four stroke would pull my fat ass quite nicely...
i'm glad they're keeping the P series look, even though i think it's the worst looking vintage Vespa... it's hands down better looking than anything modern. the worst looking is probably the buddy! ...or the people?

I can think of a lot of worse looking scooters than the buddy and people, but they're mostly those 'sport' styled scoots. I hate those.
I've got to say, a 250cc manual would be pretty freakin' sweet. I'd probably buy one too.

My wife had a People 150 and now she has a Buddy.
They look fabulous with her riding them
Ugliest modern scooter? A few come to mind... Piaggio MP3, Italjet Dragster, just about anything from China, Kymco Agility. But in my view all the modern stuff is ugly.
The Stella has the style market hands down. It's like Apple Computers for scooterists.
That said, the Venti is looking like a pretty cool scooter, style wise (even though it's rumored to be from China, but might be from Taiwan, but might be from China, but might be from Taiwan...):

it's pretty... it's what the market is screaming for! an italian styled vintage look in a modern plastic auto-matic scooter! the scooter purist wont be interested, but fuck'em anyways... i'd much rather see a dozen of these tooling around then all these ugly ass "sport" scooters! if the workmanship is worth a shit, i'll bet they sell like freaken' mad!

sorry to veer off topic there...
i went in to my local "vespa" dealership.
what a joke.
its a polaris dealer that sells victory and vespa.
anyways...vespa's now are just big hunks of plastic.
that venti is way sexier than anything they got except maybe the mp3 500.
and i bet less than half as much.
i just cant justify spending 6,000 bucks on a plastic scooter.
or any scooter for that matter.

Make mine a 250. I will buy one if the price is right. My chetak is pretty damn nice.....and I don't want to deal with all the inevitable shit that is going to be wrong with the first two years they produce them... so I think I'll just hide and watch till there are more than a few on the road.

Nice looking bike, but damned if I'll buy any first year of a new model. Give them a couple seasons to get the bugs worked out.
