A friend with whom I traveled across India in an autorickshaw is getting hitched. Weee! She wants me to chauffeur her to the wedding in question in an autorickshaw. :evil smirk of gleee:

There are a few obstacles to overcome

1. I currently do not actually own one. Although, I know a guy who knows a guy.

2. The wedding in question will be in Maryland. They are not considered street legal in Maryland, but if one has a plate from another state it is street legal. Or something.

3. If I acquire said autorickshaw registered in as a vehicle I have to get it to Maryland/DC, three states away.

Figured y'all would be amused. I will keep y'all updated. Comments, advice, offers of help, "are you nuts?" commentary welcome.

*wala is added to the end of any word to indicate that that is one's occupation. Chaiwala sells or delivers tea. Autowala drives an autorickshaw.

Call the boys at Modern Classics.
They should be able to answer all you questions and may be able to source you an
Auto-rickshaw to rent or use or something.

hello,
i am a videographer in bethesda, maryland and do a lot of south asian weddings. i own a bajaj chetak and thought of using it - all dressed up - for baraat - but i think an autio rickshaw would be awesome - especially all decorated with flowers and streamers.
did the wedding take place already?
i would love to take some video.

my son wants me to buy an auto rickshaw and offer it for weddings. are you sure they cant be licenced in maryland.
my son thinks they can be licenced as a motorcycle but i dont know.

let me know
you can also email me directly at reporter@erols.com

In Oregon if it has 3 wheels it's a motorcycle no matter if the cage is enclosed or not. We had a dealer down here a few years ago that was selling 3 wheeled cars brand new. They were pretty cool. Registered as motorcycles. That way they didn't have to have all the safety stuff required of all 4 wheel vehicles...
