Thanks everyone for your input. I've decided to keep looking. Since this would be a second scoot for me there's no rush to make a decision and no need to make a bad one.

I've been looking at CraigsList and Scoot.net... any other places I should watch?

Yea, read your local want ads, you never know what might be right next door.

My buddy John snafu-d himself (just my personal opinion) into buying a Chinese POS. It's been a nice scoot for him despite what you hear. He really loves the whole scooter vibe, riding in the country, seeing new stuff, etc. but he hated the lack of power for hills and the 50 mph top speed.

I've been advising him on bigger scoots (250) as he'd like to ride to Louisiana and get out and see some of the world. We've been checking Craig, scoot.net, and all the obvious places. He picks up the local Branson Gazette last week and 1 mile away is a one-owner, 1988 Honda Elite 250. 3,800 miles, showroom new, has lived it's life in a garage. $1600 A freakin' steal.

oh sure! But if a Rally 200 or P200e came along first it might be a terrible temptation Smile

I paid $1400 for a 04 with a poc pipe and 4500 miles on it. I think your 02 scoot price is kinda high, but good luck anyways.

much to my dismay, there is a super, crazy, completely unexpected LACK of local Bajaj scooters in my area.... Sad
I guess Bajaj owners are so satisfied that they are not selling...
If I buy something other than a Bajaj can I still post in the "other scooter related" forum?? (I like you folks!)

Sure you can post.

I believe that those who want a Bajaj will eventually buy one when it comes along. The bajaj is a "singular" scooter experience, so though you may get a different scoot to tide you over or satisfy your lust, you will eventually marry a Bajaj. You will probably have many affairs, but I doubt you will find a better well rounded and dependable significant other than the Bajaj.

I live in the DC area -- could it be possible that I'll be having a fellow Bajaj rider in the area?

Do you still have your Chetak? I have a 2002 Yellow one and have been riding it quite a bit.
Sounds like you do your own servicing and repairs. I would if I knew how to do it. Happy to join you on a ride sometime.
