welcome grasshopper- I to have a 02 legend with nearly 30,000 miles on it . the difference between the two are mainly cosmetic headlight, tail light , height, legend is taller glovebox. . engine and transmission is the same. less legends were made thus the lack of discussion.

Thank you. Its nice to know that it will last that long. I've had mine for 2 days now and have drove at least 75 miles on it. I LOVE IT! I thought the difference was going to be cosmetic, but wasn't sure. I assume the brakes are the same (?) I'm going to be working on it here and there so its nice to know that all (or most?) the "How-to" stuff I've been reading still applies to the Legend.
I was also wondering if you or anyone else knew of a good parts supplier online as the "Tulsa Scooters" shut down a few months ago. And I haven't been able to find (yet) a local scooter store. It's all Harley Davidson down here and when I called to find out if they worked on scooters, she literally laughed at me and said "Hell no, you're kidding right?!" Ugh, Rolling Eyes rednecks....

Thanks Again

Well, rednecks yes, and everyone loves to dis Harley folk, but obscure scooters are not their expertise, and do not have ultra-high levels of disposable income either Laughing You will find a bit of respect for your scoot though when you explain that it has heritage, metal, and real gears !!

You'll probably find a good scooter dealer in Tulsa (I hope) but even they will order parts which come from the main depot in San Francisco. I use Tim at Colombia Scooters in Portland for parts (when needed). Check thru the board and you find some parts and dealers threads. Be sure to pull the tech docs from the original importer at http://www.argousa.com/

AtomicBrown in OKC still deals with Bajaj for parts and they used to even carry the Argo scoots for a while.

It's so strange, I wasn't aware that Bajaj is this famous abroad.

nobody likes it here.

I have this special attachment as the scooter belongs to my dad's, and I want to keep it forever.

Bajaj chetak, 2 stroke white. it is gonna get a hippie look soon. meanwhile i just want to keep it in god condition.

I don't know jack about it. but want to learn everything about it.

I was randomly looking for something about it and found this site.

I m so happy to see such a forum exists.

Hi,
I have been in India about a month. A friend gave me his old Bajaj Super (1952) because it was having starting problems - stale fuel. I ride it to work every day, 50 km round trip. These scooters are INVINCIBLE!

I've got some questions though. Like why did it lock up when I was doing 60-70 kph, skid to a stop, and then just kick over as if nothing had happened. I thought I seized the poor girl.

Looking forward to your insights on these intriguing machines.

Hey Moonranger,

It sounds like your Bajaj may have had a fuel starvation stoppage. My 2006 Bajaj, as well as some other folks' scooters, has a problem when running wide open throttle (WOT). After a few minutes of WOT, the engine starts to sputter and will come to a stop unless the throttle is released for a while until it gets fuel again. It would appear the problem is the engine will use more fuel than the tank can keep the fuel bowl filled at WOT. I have never seen a satisfactory solution to the problem as yet, but since most of my usage is not WOT, I can still enjoy my Bajaj. I had a 1964 Vespa that never had any such WOT problem.

If your problem is the WOT problem, you can avoid it by backing off WOT before the bowl runs out of fuel.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile
