@matty_x

Thanks.

This belonged to my father which was gifted to him by my uncle in 1987.
He had ruined it. I got it redone 2 years ago. Now I've got a cover for the spare wheel and the glove box in the same material and colour as the seat cover. It looks better. Go theEngine rebored, again! Now the pick-up and mileage is decent. It gives me 30 Kilometers per litre of petrol (you do the conversion math for miles/gallon). Twisted Evil

You like the lack of turn signals. I do too, but I must admit that it's difficult in city traffic without it. Sad

The foot mat is broken on the right side though which I'm gonna get replaced this weekend and also going to add another rear-view mirror on the left.

I've got a few questions as well:

1. Is there any way to protect the sheen of the paint (some coating of sorts) and scratches?
Since its only 2 years, its alright but parking it in the sun fades the paint. I got a coat of teflon but that ain't working.

2. I also want to know if there is anyway to reduce the sound it makes. Though it is not all that bad, it is much louder than mainstream 4 stroke motorcycles.

3. Is it possible to get an electric/automatic start fixed to this machine? Remember that this ain't got a battery. Everything electrical works directly from the Engine power. Electric start is a boon for maneuvering the city traffic.

I know these are too many questions and there must be different forums or threads where I need to post them but since I'm new, please help me put it in the right place. Very Happy

One more question.

I know.... I know...
Too many questions, but this one's inevitable.

Why is the forum specifying that it is only for Chetak and Legend?

Bajaj had made lot many more models, similar looking to the Chetak and Legend like my "Cub" or the "Super".

I feel all of these models can be included for discussion. Cool

Welcome rkarthea! I agree with you, this forum should include all bajaj scooters. If you have any photos or info on models other than the chetak and legend you should post them!

I think that's because the only Bajajs that you can find in the US are Chetaks and Legends and the occasional 2 stroke Bajaj. I think if you posted about any Bajaj, we'd respond favorably, but I can't guarantee we'll know much about the model.

Welcome though! Beautiful scooter. Love the colors and the ginormous glovebox!

Everyone is welcome here. (they even let me hang around Very Happy ).

There are a lot of folks on this list that work on all types of scooters/motorcycles/cars.... and sometimes stuff crosses over and is helpful. regardless of make/model etc.

Most of the members are in the US and the only Bajaj Scooters we got were the Legend and Chetak. We also have a people with older T2 Bajaj's in the US as well as a few members in Europe that have other models.

Don't feel bad about asking questions, because everyone learns when they are answered.

Welcome and have fun.

I'm new to the Bajaj scene, got a sweet used 2003 4T Chetak from your board member rabidwombat. I am anxious to get out and ride as I am used to riding a twist-n-go Buddy for the last year and a half. Now the big question is, which one to ride? I want to be fair to both! Smile

It is no longer a dilema, the Chetak totally wins....
I ride the Buddy once in a while to keep her mean and clean, she is quite zippy, but it's nothing like the feeling I get riding my Bajaj!
Welcome newbies and you dudes from India, SWEET!

Bajaj Rally? Did someone say they wanted to help plan one? I'm in!

Hi!

I'm Norbert from Vienna/Austria.

I have been riding scooters for more than 20 years now.
Mainly Vespa and Lambretta, but recently I started to get interested in Indian scooters.
Well, in fact I got interested to the point of starting a business in importing vintage Bajaj, API, SIL and LML scooters and parts.

Oh, my own Bajaj is a goldish-beige 2stroke Super 150 with that ..odd.. plastic horncast, date of prod. 1992.
It's ugly but it has got charm. Besides that I still own some Vespas (TS 125, GL 150 and PK 50) and a Lambretta (Servetta Jet 200).

BTW: It's interesting that there are mainly 4stroke Bajaj scooters in the US.
As far as I know these have not been imported to Europe (at least not in larger numbers).
Are the 4stroke engines durable? Is quality an issue with those scoots?

the 4 strokes are very durable. I have over 20,000 miles on my 02 with no major issues did redo my top end a couple months ago but found I probably could have got away with just rings but since I already had the parts did the whole job. Iam sure the 2 strokes are a little quicker but thats the down side of 4 strokes.

thanks for the reply.
so i actually might try to get my hand on a 4stroke...

I guess the 2strokes offer more opportunities to enhance their performance Cool
will try to add some pics soon.

Scootering Mag in UK did a review of the Legend 4stroke some years back, while they were still in production. I think they were test riding the one and only Legend in the country, and plans to import more fell through, I think.

I'm from the Tulsa area of Oklahoma. I noticed that with me, that makes 6 people and put us up to %3. WOOT!! I saw there was one person from OKC. Any more out there?
I actually don't own one as of this second, but I'm getting it tomorrow (God willing and it don't blow up on the ride home) I will soon be the proud owner of a '02 Legend.
Question I notice not so much Legend love on the forums. I know that they only made them for a few years, but it seems like its the ugly, redheaded stepchild of an ex-spouses kids that stayed to live with the family. Shocked I don't get it?
Anyway, found it on Craigslist, gonna need to replace the rear break pads, has a little cosmetic damage, and little over 11K miles on it. I don't even have it yet and it is already my baby... Smile I will post pics as soon as I can, but being new to forums in general, I'm not sure where to... Someone help this newbie? I'm learning (slowly) and have made a list of questions that I wont post here (wrong thread) but it has to do with the differences between the Chetak and Legend.

Thanks Ya'll!!
